Scope of Works

• Confirm quantity required (m³ or tonnes) and preferred chip type

• Deliver loose wood chip to an agreed drop-off point using tipper or bowser

• Offload and spread material to an agreed depth and coverage area if requested

• Remove and dispose of existing mulch or debris if included in the quote

• Protect access routes (boards for lawns/driveways) and tidy site after work; PPE used for handling

• Report any contaminated or non-wood material found during spread for separate pricing

Delivery and spreading for a small garden top‑up (2–4 m³) typically takes 1–3 hours on site; restricted access, removing old material or larger loads can extend this to 3–8 hours or require multiple visits

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• How many cubic metres or tonnes will you supply and what coverage at the depth I want

• What type of wood chip is it (hardwood/softwood, bark, aged or fresh)

• What vehicle will deliver and what access, width and turning space are required

• Do you include spreading and site protection in the price or is that extra

• Will you remove existing material and how is disposal charged

• Are you insured and do you provide a written quote showing exact quantities

How to Avoid Surprises

• measure access, gate widths and any low branches before the visit

• reserve parking or loading space near the work area and tell the tradie of restrictions

• agree drop-off point and whether the team will spread material or leave loose

• confirm exact quantity and target depth to avoid shortfalls on the day

• tell the tradie about contamination (soil, weeds, plastic) and buried services before work for accurate pricing
