Most routine single‑visit maintenance takes 1–3 hours; small gardens 30–60 minutes; larger or seasonal clearances 4–8 hours or a full day. Factors that extend time include overgrown areas, tree work, difficult access, additional planting or waiting for waste collection

• are you insured for public liability and for working at height

• what exactly is included in this visit and what would be extra

• how often do you recommend visits for this garden size and growth rate

• will you remove green waste or should I arrange collection and where will cuttings be left

• do you use herbicides/pesticides and how will you advise on safety for pets and neighbours

• can you provide a written quote and references for similar recurring maintenance

How to Avoid Surprises

• ensure clear access, gate codes and any locked areas are arranged beforehand

• confirm parking or loading space for a van and any permits needed

• check availability of water and power if pressure washers or electric tools are required

• mark underground services, irrigation pipes and delicate planting to avoid damage

• agree disposal method and where cuttings will be left before the job starts

• tell the team about pets, neighbours with access needs and any site restrictions (conservation area, composting rules)
