Scope of Works

• Inspect and identify the cause of the blockage, such as compacted grounds, oil buildup or a foreign object

• unplug and isolate the grinder before any disassembly for safety

• remove hopper, bean chute and access burr chamber to clear jams and blockages

• clean burrs, dosing mechanisms and surrounding areas to remove compacted grounds and oil residue

• reassemble, test grind performance and adjust grind setting as required

• advise on worn burrs, seals or motors and provide costed replacement options where needed

Most domestic coffee grinder unblockings take 30–90 minutes on site depending on severity and access; time increases if burrs need replacing, the motor requires further diagnosis, or specialist parts must be ordered

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• Do you have experience with my grinder make and model?

• What will the call-out fee cover and is it deducted from labour if I proceed?

• Do you carry common spare parts like seals and burrs or will these need ordering?

• How do you handle contamination and will you use PPE when cleaning oily coffee residue?

• What warranty do you provide on the repair or replaced parts?

• Will you need me to isolate power or move the grinder before you arrive?

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear beans and empty the hopper and catch trays before the visit

• ensure easy access to the machine and to a nearby power socket that can be isolated

• let the tradie know the grinder model and any previous faults before booking

• provide a parking spot or details of local parking to avoid extra travel charges

• inform building management if the grinder is in a communal or commercial space
