Scope of Works

• inspect appliance and perform diagnostic checks (power, suction, switches, wiring)

• clean and test filters, dust bin or bag and airway for blockages

• remove and replace drive belt and clean brush bar

• check brushroll, bearings and motor for wear and test motor and electronics

• test battery and charger on cordless models and check plugs and leads on mains models

• fit replacement parts if agreed and carry out a test run to confirm repair

• advise if repair is uneconomic and provide a replacement estimate

Time on Site

Most routine repairs take 0.5–2 hours on site; replacing belts or filters is typically 20–45 minutes while motor, electronics or battery faults often take 1–3 hours and may need a return visit for ordered parts. Factors that extend time include hard-to-find parts, heavy contamination (wet or hazardous debris) and models requiring extensive strip-down. Technicians use PPE for dusty or contaminated appliances

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• do you charge a separate call‑out fee or offer a fixed-price diagnosis

• can you supply parts now or will you need to order and return

• do you fit genuine manufacturer parts or aftermarket equivalents and what is the warranty

• what warranty do you offer on labour and replaced parts

• are you insured and can you provide proof of public liability cover

• will you test the appliance after repair and show me the results

How to Avoid Surprises

• have the make, model and serial number ready

• clear parking and an easy access route to where the appliance will be worked on

• remove loose debris from the machine and tell the tradie if it has been used on wet or hazardous material

• contain pets and clear a workspace for the technician

• expect a diagnostic fee and ask for a written quote before parts are fitted
