Scope of Works

• Inspect machine externally for damage and signs of water ingress

• test power lead, plug and earth continuity

• run diagnostics on motor, brush bar, belts and bearings

• strip and clean filters, tanks and hoses on wet/dry units and check for contamination

• test switches, thermostats and any onboard electronics

• replace small parts on-site if stocked and show correct operation

• advise on non-repairable faults and provide a replacement cost estimate

Most diagnostics take 30–90 minutes; straightforward on-site repairs typically 1–3 hours. If parts are required expect an extra 2–10 working days for ordering and return visits. Complex motor or PCB replacements can add longer lead times

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• can you provide a written estimate before fitting parts?

• do you carry common parts such as belts and brushes and what is the cost if not stocked?

• will you test the machine after repair and demonstrate safe operation?

• what warranty do you offer on parts and labour and how is it documented?

• how will you handle contamination (mould, sewage, pet waste) and what PPE will be used?

• do you charge for a follow-up visit if a part fails after initial repair?

How to Avoid Surprises

• have the machine, hoses and attachments ready in the work area

• clear a 1m working area and move furniture or obstructions beforehand

• ensure a nearby power socket is available and switched off before arrival if requested

• tell the tradie about any water contamination, mould or biohazard so appropriate PPE is used

• confirm parking or access arrangements and any building restrictions before the visit
