Scope of Works

• Carry out full diagnostic of electrical and mechanical systems and record error codes

• Inspect and clean group head, portafilter and shower screen

• Descale boiler and water circuit if required using manufacturer‑safe chemicals

• Replace seals, gaskets, group‑head screens and worn O‑rings where needed

• Test and, if needed, replace pump, thermostat, heating element or solenoid valves

• Service steam wand and purge, replace steam tip or gasket if leaking

• Run pressure and temperature calibration, pull test shots and hand over operational checks

Most diagnostics and minor repairs take 45 minutes–2 hours; full services or boiler and pump replacements typically take 1–3 hours; if parts must be ordered expect a wait of 1–7 days depending on availability Factors that extend time include part lead times, inaccessible locations, built‑in or heavy machines and the need to remove the unit to a workshop

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• Do you include a written diagnosis and cost estimate before work starts

• Are parts genuine manufacturer parts or aftermarket and is there a parts warranty

• Can you repair on site or will the machine need to go to a workshop

• How long will the repair take and do you charge for return visits

• Do you provide calibration and test shots as part of the service

• What PPE and contamination controls do you use for milk systems and hygiene

How to Avoid Surprises

• Clear the area around the machine and remove beans and milk containers

• Ensure easy access to water and a mains socket and note if the machine is hard‑wired

• Tell the trader the exact brand, model and any visible error codes or lights

• Arrange off‑street parking or a permit for the technician's van if applicable

• Expect parts lead times and agree up front whether you want genuine or cheaper alternatives
