Scope of Works

• Inspect washing machine and run a diagnostic cycle to reproduce the lock fault

• test electrical connections, door switch and lock microswitch for continuity

• remove front panel or inner door seal as required to access the lock assembly

• replace faulty door lock module or microswitch and refit panels and seals

• run a short cycle to confirm the lock engages, door stays sealed and machine drains

• advise on warranty, likely causes if further parts are needed and any follow-up visit

Most lock repairs take 30–90 minutes on site including diagnosis and testing; if parts must be ordered the initial visit may be diagnostic only and a return visit will be needed

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• do you charge a diagnostic fee and is it deducted from the repair cost

• do you have the replacement lock for my make and model or will you need to order it

• how long is the parts and labour warranty

• will you need access to isolate water or electricity and do I need to be present

• can you provide an itemised estimate before replacing parts

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear the area around the machine and remove laundry to give easy access

• have the machine make, model and serial number to hand

• if possible reserve a parking space nearby or tell the engineer about restrictions

• advise if the machine is built in, stacked or in a tight cupboard as this can add time

• secure pets and provide clear entry instructions for flats or communal buildings

• expect the engineer to use PPE and bring towels or trays for any water or contamination
