Scope of Works

• Inspect the machine, record model and serial, and note visible faults

• remove and clean group head, portafilters and shower screen

• flush and descale water circuits and boiler where required

• clean and sanitise milk steam wand and milk circuit where applicable (PPE used)

• check pump pressure, thermostats, seals and replace worn gaskets

• test extraction and steam function and hand over with basic operation notes

Most routine servicing takes 45 minutes–2 hours on site; full strip-down, deep descaling or part replacement can take 2–4 hours. Factors that extend time include heavy scale build-up, difficult access, and waiting for replacement parts

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• are you trained or certified to service my machine brand

• which parts and consumables are included in the price

• do you carry common seals, filters and gaskets or will they need ordering

• will you provide a written report and test readings after service

• what warranty do you offer on parts and labour

• do you use food-safe chemicals and follow contamination control for milk systems

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear space around the machine and ensure access to power and water

• have the machine model, serial number and any service history ready

• tell the trader if the machine uses milk systems or has hygiene concerns

• arrange parking or loading access for the technician van and parts

• expect additional costs and time if boilers, pumps or specific brand parts are required
