Scope of Works

• Inspect drum and spin assembly for noise, axial/radial play and visible damage

• test bearings, seals, spider, pulley, belt and motor coupling to identify the root cause

• remove bulkhead/front panel and strip drum/tub assembly where needed to access bearings and seals

• replace defective parts such as bearing and seal kits or fit a replacement drum assembly where required

• reassemble, balance the drum, run test cycles to check spin and leaks and clear any fault codes

• advise on repair versus replacement, provide parts photos and a written cost estimate for further work

Most bearing or seal repairs take 1–3 hours; replacing a full drum assembly or addressing corroded fixings typically takes 3–6 hours and may require a return visit if parts are not on the vehicle. Factors that extend time include stacked or built-in units, seized fastenings, orders for non‑stock parts and restricted access

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• do you include a written diagnosis and is the call‑out fee deducted from the repair cost

• do you charge a fixed price or hourly rate and can you provide an estimate for common scenarios

• what warranty do you offer on parts and labour and which parts are new versus reconditioned

• how quickly can you source required parts and will you need to return if parts are not on the van

• do you provide post‑repair testing and will you clear fault codes or advise how to if necessary

• do you dispose of old parts and is that included in the quote

How to Avoid Surprises

• ensure clear access to the machine and space to work, especially for stacked or built‑in units

• have the model and serial number or photos ready so the tradie can check parts compatibility before arrival

• check parking or access restrictions at your property and let the tradie know about permits or narrow streets

• advise about pets and clear the immediate area to avoid delays

• ask in advance if the tradie carries common bearing/seal kits or will need to order parts

• check whether the tradie will use PPE when handling greasy or contaminated components and whether additional cleaning is needed
