Scope of Works

• Inspect hob burners, ignition, controls and visible gas connections

• test for gas leaks using gas-safe procedures and check supply pressure

• remove and clean burners, jets and caps and replace worn seals or gaskets

• replace faulty ignition modules, thermocouples, valves or hoses as agreed

• perform safety and combustion checks where required and re-test appliance operation

• provide Gas Safe paperwork and advice on further work if a replacement is needed

Most straightforward gas hob repairs take 30–90 minutes on site; more complex faults or part replacements can take 2–4 hours and may require a return visit for ordered parts. Delays are commonly caused by parts lead times, restricted access, or additional gas-safety work

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• Are you Gas Safe registered and can you show your ID and registration number?

• What is your best estimate for repair versus replacement and an approximate cost range?

• Will you provide a written quotation that itemises parts, labour and any call-out fee?

• Do you carry common spare parts and if not how long would a parts-only return visit take?

• Is testing, any required safety certificate and reconnection included in the price?

• What warranty do you offer on parts and labour and what does it cover?

How to Avoid Surprises

• give clear access to the kitchen and have the hob make/model and any fault history available

• reserve a nearby parking space or share permit details to avoid call-out delays

• keep pets and children away from the work area

• expect the engineer to use PPE and to perform combustion/ventilation checks where necessary

• ask about parts lead times and whether fitting will require a separate appointment
