Scope of Works

• inspect and test the dryer, control panel and external vent

• diagnose faults such as failed heating element, thermostat, motor, belt or timer

• remove drum or rear cover to access and replace faulty parts where required

• clean lint, check and clear venting and flue connections to restore airflow

• test electrical safety and run final performance checks

• provide a written estimate for further work or a replacement if repair is uneconomic

Most basic diagnostics and minor repairs take 1–2 hours; replacing major parts (motor or heating element) typically takes 2–4 hours. Waiting for ordered parts usually adds 1–7 days depending on stock and model

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• do you charge a fixed call‑out or bill by the hour and how is travel calculated?

• are parts and VAT included in the quote and is there a warranty on parts and labour?

• do you have experience with my dryer brand and can you supply manufacturer‑approved parts?

• will you isolate the appliance and carry out electrical safety checks during the visit?

• do you offer disposal of the old appliance and is collection included or charged separately?

• how long will parts take if not in stock and do you require payment up front for special order parts?

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear the area around the dryer and provide access to the rear for testing and removal

• ensure parking or permit details are available to avoid arrival delays or extra charges

• unplug the machine before the tradie arrives unless instructed otherwise for safety checks

• let the tradie know if the dryer is in a flat or communal area so they can arrange access permissions

• keep pets away and mention any health concerns (mould or heavy lint) so the engineer can use appropriate PPE
