Scope of Works

• Inspect and diagnose cooker fault including visual checks and fault codes

• isolate electrical and gas supplies and remove panels to access components

• remove and replace faulty parts such as heating elements, igniters, thermostats, control boards or gas valves

• perform functional tests, electrical checks and a gas leak/pressure check for gas appliances

• repair minor wiring or earthing faults and advise if further work is needed (engineer will use PPE)

• remove small replaced parts and packaging and provide guidance on warranty and ongoing safety

Diagnosis 30–60 minutes; simple part replacements typically 1–2 hours; major control board or gas-valve changes 2–4 hours. Travel, parts ordering or access issues can extend the visit

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• Are you Gas Safe registered and can you show your card (for gas cookers)

• What is the call-out fee and is any diagnosis time included in that price

• Which parts will you fit, do you supply them, and what warranty do they carry

• Is gas/electrical testing and a leak check included in the quote

• If parts need ordering how long will the cooker be out of service and are there additional call‑out charges

• Do you charge a fixed price or hourly and is VAT included in the quote

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear access to cooker and remove pots, pans and loose items

• have the cooker model/serial number and photos of any fault codes ready

• arrange parking or tell the engineer about access restrictions or permits

• confirm landlord or building management permission for appliance work if applicable

• secure pets and ensure ventilation for any gas testing

• request a written quote and confirm whether price includes parts, testing and VAT
