Scope of Works

• visually inspect plug, flex and socket for damage or overheating

• isolate appliance and test RCD/earth continuity and polarity

• inspect internal wiring, door interlock, motor connections and visible PCB faults where safe to open

• carry out basic electrical tests using PAT/insulation tester as appropriate

• replace simple parts on site (fuse, flex, door switch) if available and safe to fit

• provide written findings, estimate for any major part replacement (PCB/motor) and recommended next steps

• tidy site, test a short wash cycle and advise on warranty and safety checks

Typical inspection and basic electrical tests 30–90 minutes; simple on‑site repairs 1–3 hours; major part replacement or ordering parts may extend to several days while parts are sourced

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• are you insured and do you provide a written quote before parts are ordered

• will you isolate the appliance and test RCD/earth before working

• can you fit the part on site and what warranty do parts and labour have

• do you need rear access or to pull out an integrated unit and will there be extra labour

• how will you manage contamination or water spillage and what PPE will you use

• if the fault is on the PCB or motor what are the estimated lead times and cost options (repair vs replace)

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear the area and remove clothing or items from machine and surrounding cupboards

• provide photos of the plug, socket and rear of the machine if access is tight or machine is integrated

• check parking or permit requirements for the technician to avoid delays

• let the tradie know about pets, landlord consent for flats and any access restrictions

• agree whether they should order parts before returning to fit to avoid repeat call‑outs
