Scope of Works

• locate and isolate the appliance water supply and electrical supply where required

• disconnect inlet hose and drain hose and remove appliance from position if needed

• inspect and cap or blank off the water feed and waste as requested, fit new caps or blanking plate if supplied

• check for leaks and test the isolated fittings once work is complete

• tidy work area and reconnect electrics only where safe and authorised (many tradies will ask you to isolate at the consumer unit)

Most domestic washing machine and dishwasher disconnections take 30–60 minutes; integrated or hard-to-access units can take 1–2 hours or longer

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• do you charge a call‑out fee and what does the minimum cover

• will you cap or blank off the supply and waste and supply any parts needed

• do you offer appliance removal and disposal and what is the cost

• have you worked on integrated kitchen appliances and can you remove doors/panels if needed

• are you insured and do you provide a written estimate before work starts

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear the area around the appliance and remove dishes or stored items from under‑sink cupboards

• tell the tradie where the stopcock and consumer unit are located

• check parking and access for the van if you expect the tradie to remove the appliance

• advise of pets, communal entrance rules or flat management requirements in advance

• ask the tradie to bring PPE and to confirm how they will manage any water contamination or leaks
